To have a happy life with your dog, you need to make sure that it is properly trained. Your dog will be more predictable when he is trained in the right way. If your dog has been trained effectively, you will be less reluctant to leave him at home alone, allow him to interact with visitors or spend time together in public places like dog parks. The time that you spend training your dog will pay off tenfold.
When your dog is a room make sure you are calm when you come in. Playtime is great but sometimes it is just not appropriate. You can retain control over the environment by allowing a few moments before acknowledging your pet. You are behind the decisions to play or interact.
Make sure that you use control to reward your dog’s good training behavior. If your pet successfully completes a task, then reward him only if he/she is calm. While you may be overjoyed with headway you are making, showing excitement causes the dog to become excited and makes you lose control. If you are able to maintain your calm, you can expect your dog to maintain calm too.
Make sure your dog is up and active often. Don’t let your dog sit around with nothing to do. They won’t get any exercise that way and if they’re too bored, they might sniff around and get into some trouble. Dogs with no enthusiasm will be harder to train than active dogs. Keeping your dog exercised and happy will help them pay attention more due to releasing all excess energy that often distracts them from your commands. Go for a long walk with your dog.
Training your dog can help you set rules for your dog, so it understands the relationship. Once those rules are in place and followed consistently, your dog will have an easier time understanding its role and your needs. Do not forget to remind your dog of what he has learned. Always keep a close eye out and do not hesitate to enforce proper punishment on any violations of the designated rules. Once your dog learns the basic training skills, the sky is the limit!
