The dog that you have just adopted may seem less like Lassie, and more like Cujo. There is good news – you can train your dog so they are better behaved in a short time.
Establish a calm environment when you enter a room that your dog is in. Play time is great, but your dog needs to learn to stay calm as his master enters the room. Do not acknowledge his presence when you enter, so the atmosphere remains controlled until you decide when his play time begins.
Make sure your dog is eating a healthy diet. Eating a poor diet will negatively affect your dog in many ways. This is not just bad for the dog’s health; it may also play a role in their negative behavior. Something as simple as improving their diet can sometimes have a huge impact on how receptive they are to training.
You have to be consistent with the crate training of your new puppy. If you remove the pup from the crate, see to it that he has the means to go potty. Doing so helps him learn when it is okay to go to the bathroom.
Teaching any dog how to roll over can be pretty easy. Make sure you’ve got a few tasty treats handy before beginning. The first step is to get the dog to lay down. Next, hold the treat close to the floor on one side of the dog’s head, and slowly bringing it upwards and over to the dog’s other side. They’ll follow your treat with their nose which will cause them to roll over. Upon seeing him roll over, issue the command. You can then repeat the command to the point where he rolls over without the added incentive of a treat. This may take time, so don’t become frustrated.
Most people are surprised how quickly their dog can learn from training and how fast they get results. If you feel like you and your dog are having a hard time, try some of this advice.
