How Training Your Dog, Repetition, And Rewards Work

Dogs bring love and joy into our homes. A puppy is quite a bit of work. There is tons of training that must be done. If you stay consistent with these tips, your puppy will quickly be trained.

Make sure to let your pet know a crate is their home initially. When meal time comes, place the food bowl in the crate and keep the door open while the dog eats. This creates a positive association between good food and their new crate.

When crate training your new puppy, take it in small manageable steps so the animal can become accustomed to the changes easily. When they seem comfortable in it with the door open, try shutting the gate and feed them treats through the wires. In the beginning it is important to only leave the dog in the crate for a few seconds. After a while you will be able to leave them in the crate for longer amounts of time. If your puppy gets upset, then you may need to slow down and have more patience with them.

Have a good reward system when training your dog. You should immediately reward your dog when they follow your command. If you do not give the treat right away, your dog is not going to understand why you are rewarding it.

Keep your dogs tied at a safe distance from each other. One dog’s chain might become entangled with the other, which could lead to serious injuries. A larger dog could cause a tangle so bad that the smaller dog could be choked by the leash.

Now that you understand how to deal with your puppy, the time has come to apply the above tips. Be patient and be sure to reinforce positive behaviors with praise and treats. Although these tips won’t work overnight, your pet will become your dream dog soon.
