Helpful Puppy Training Advice That Your Dog Will Love

Dogs are naturally curious, which at times can lead to big time disasters! However, there’s still hope! A bit of training goes a long way in reducing bad dog behavior.

Question how your dog views things. A lot of owners get frustrated when their dog is not understanding a basic command. Don’t give up! Think how they think instead. Your dog might not be making the connection between the order and the behavior you expect from them because you have not repeated the exercise enough times.

Reinforce calm behavior upon your arrival. Playtime is great but sometimes it is just not appropriate. Don’t acknowledge dogs the moment that you set foot in the house.

Make sure that your dog’s crate is the right size for him if you are going to use it to train him. Don’t forget that puppies get bigger. Choose a crate that is sure to be the right proportions for the adult dog you will eventually have. There should be enough space to move around without feeling cramped.

With patience and a handful of tasty treats, you can easily teach your pet to roll over. Start by commanding the animal to lie down. The next step is to hold a treat close to the floor by the dog’s head then continue to move the treat over his head until you reach the other side. He should then roll over while following the treat. As he rolls, state the command “roll over” in a firm tone. Repeat the process until your dog associates the command with the action. Never become frustrated if it does not happen right away. Once he does learn how, he will be a celebrity among other dogs.

Many dog owners are quite surprised at how quickly they can achieve good results with even a basic puppy training routine. So if your relationship with your pooch is feeling a bit strained, try out some of these tips.
