You and your puppy will be so much happier if it is fully trained. When your dog is well-trained, then both you and your dog will know exactly what is expected from each other. If your dog has been trained effectively, you will be less reluctant to leave him at home alone, allow him to interact with visitors or spend time together in public places like dog parks. The time that you spend training your dog will pay off tenfold.
It takes small steps to crate train your puppy; they must become accustomed to it. Eventually they will become comfortable with the crate and you can then try to shut the door to the crate. When they allow the door to shut you can give them a treat through the wiring. Keep the gate closed for short periods of time, and work your way up to longer times. If they start to fuss, you are going too fast.
Try to see things from your dog’s perspective. When your dog is slow to learn, you may become frustrated. Rather than abandoning the training, consider what the dog might be thinking. Consider how it would be to see the world in their eyes. Doing this will give you a completely different perspective, which should help you in training them.
Dog training is big on making rules for the relationship just like you would with people, you will have such a better time with each other once the rules are in place. Always reinforce everything you have taught your dog. If he deviates from any acceptable behavior, you need to correct this right away, and work every day to make sure that he is remembering what you have taught him. After your dog has learned the basics, you can work together more effectively to instill more complex behaviors.
