Virtually every negative dog behavior, including barking, growling, and aggression, can be prevented or counteracted with proper training. Even if they don’t disappear completely these behaviors can be ameliorated by using the tips contained herein. With dedicated effort, it is possible to transform any dog into a perfect pet.
Look out for your dog’s nutrition the same way you would look after your own. Your dog will not benefit from a poor diet. It is damaging to their health as well as making them more prone to bad behaviors. Improving your dog’s diet will also improve its mental capacity.
Be sure to keep your dog active and engaged a great deal of the time. Dogs can easily get bored. A dog without interest in what you’re doing is more difficult to train. Your dog is going to be a lot more attentive when it has received enough exercise. Go on extended walks or runs with your dog on a regular basis.
Never reinforce your dog’s bad behaviors. In basic terms, this means refusing to reward your dog, via attention or treats, for doing any action that you are trying to get them to stop doing. For instance, it will be difficult or impossible to train your dog not to jump on people if you give your pet a friendly neck-scratch when he or she jumps on you.
Training your pet to roll over very easy. Just remember to have treats in hand. The first step is to get the dog to lay down. Then, hold the treat over your dog’s head and swipe it above and around his head, causing him to roll over. He should then roll over while following the treat. Be sure to say ROLL OVER as your dog is rolling. Eventually, he will learn to perform the trick upon command. Make sure you are patient because this is likely to take several attempts. However, your dog will eventually learn this command.
Dog training intimidates many owners; but, it is actually very easy. By combining a proper mindset and a good base of knowledge, any dog can become well trained. A dog will become an even better pet thanks to the owner’s patience and training.
