Do Not Let Your Rowdy Pup Rule Your Life

Perhaps you are starting to wonder why you wanted a dog in the first place after a few incidents. With some training, you can have a well behaved pet.

There are a few tricks you can try when attempting to crate train a puppy or dog. If the dog doesn’t want to get in the crate try putting a chew toy in it and close the gate when they’re not there. They will want to get to the bone, which means going into the crate. Praise your dog once he gets into the crate.

Shock Collars

Don’t use things like shock collars. In many cases, they do not live up to the advertising expectations created, and are just more money than more effective and traditional training tools. In addition, shock collars and related devices can actually irritate your dog and eradicate current good behaviors. Generally speaking, these techniques often produce undesirable results.

Pick a consistent phrase to use with your puppy while house training. Whenever you take your pet outside to use the bathroom, choose a phrase, like “go potty”, so he remembers what he is there to do.

Make sure that both you and your dog enjoy the daily training. Try and develop a bond with your dog by playing with him, it will only encourage the dog to want to please you more during training. While you can have fun during training sessions, it’s a good idea to spend a little time simply playing.

Maintain brief training sessions. By keeping the sessions short you will be able to hold your dog’s attention. Allow you dog a break every fifteen and then resume training if desired.

Many times dog owners are surprised to see they can easily train their dog on an everyday basis and promptly see the results. If you feel like you and your dog are having a hard time, try some of this advice.
