Dogs Don’t Know The Rules, So We Need To Teach Them!

When you first brought your dog home, you were probably having visions of Lassie, but there have probably been days that you were remembering Cujo more. Even the smartest dog was once a mischievous pup like yours. You can develop a relationship with your pet and teach it how to behave in a house by training it.

When you are working on crate training with your new dog or puppy, always take steps to let them know it’s their home. To help your puppy feel at home, place your puppy’s food dish inside the crate. This way, your dog will associate positive things with being inside the crate.

Look at things from your dog’s point of view. It is easy to get frustrated with your dog if they are not learning very basic things quickly or at all. Don’t give up! Think how they think instead. Consider how it would be to see the world in their eyes. Doing this will give you a completely different perspective, which should help you in training them.

Commanding control is the very first step in training your dog. Make sure he knows that you know what you are doing and are in control of the situation. Then he will look to you and defer to your judgment. For example, when you walk your dog you must be in front and you should insist your dog follows behind you.

Training your pet to roll over very easy. Just remember to have treats in hand. The dog has to lay down first. You can put the treat on the floor by their head and then raise it up over to the other side. He should roll his body over while following the treat. When he rolls over, you should say “roll over,” and repeat the process until the command is all he needs to do so. Make sure you are patient because this is likely to take several attempts. However, your dog will eventually learn this command.

Many times dog owners are surprised to see they can easily train their dog on an everyday basis and promptly see the results. Try out these tips if you are having problems with your dog.
