Repetition is key to teaching your dog new commands. You may need to repeat the command more than 20 or 30 times. Use the command over and over again until the dog gets the hint.
Training a dog to roll over is a pretty simple task, just make sure to have a few treats handy! The first step is to get the dog to lay down. Next, you must hold one treat close to the floor off to one side of their head and slowly bring it up and over the dog’s head to the opposite side. Ideally, your dog will use his nose to follow the treat, rolling his whole body in the process. Each time he sways to one side, tell him to “roll over”. Keep doing this until the treat is no longer needed. This may take time, so don’t become frustrated.
