How To Deal With Your Dog

Much like a television or other electronic device, dogs must be programmed and trained to produce certain results. They already have the correct abilities, but they aren’t synced correctly out of the box. Dogs are inborn to learn training, but need the help of their owner.

When training a puppy to use a crate it is important to take your time and start with only a few steps at a time. After they become used to each individual step and do not mind going inside the crate, try shutting the door and giving them treats with the door closed. Start off only putting them inside for 10 seconds, and when they seem okay with that, slowly increase the time they are inside. If they start to fuss, you are going too fast.

Reinforce calm behavior upon your arrival. Playtime is great but sometimes it is just not appropriate. When you enter the room, ignore excessive agitation on your dog’s part. By ignoring the behavior, you will extinguish it.

Ensure that your dog eats well. A dog with an unhealthy diet may manifest several symptoms, including sluggishness and poor behavior. It can make your dog behave badly and is not good for their health. Sometimes, it is possible to improve your pet’s behavior and cooperation simply by improving the quality of his or her diet.

Dogs have the uncanny ability to have single-minded focus when something catches their attention. Repetition and practice will result in your dog waiting to take cues from you rather than being distracted by other things.

Do not tether two dogs close to each other. The dogs chains could get tangled up and cause harm to the dogs as they struggle to get free. In the worst case, a large dog might be able to strangle or crush a smaller one, entirely by accident, while trying to free itself.

After bringing out your dog’s abilities to be trained, it’s no more than a matter of mastering those techniques. The training process can be instructional and gratifying for both the dog and its owner.
