You may have thought you were going to be bringing a nice calm dog to your house, though in reality your dog is more like a wild, hyper animal! There is good news – you can train your dog so they are better behaved in a short time.
Create a calm environment whenever you enter the room the dog is in. It is nice to calmly play with your dogs, but remember to stay relaxed. To help your dog learn this behavior, ignore him when you enter the room. after you have been in there a few minutes, acknowledge him.
It’s important to avoid inadvertently encouraging inappropriate behavior if you want your dog to learn. Never give your dog any treats or special attention for doing bad things. For instance, if you are trying to train your dog to not jump on you, you shouldn’t be petting them whenever they do so.
Teaching any dog how to roll over can be pretty easy. Make sure you’ve got a few tasty treats handy before beginning. Initially, try to get your dog to lay on the floor. Next, hold the treat close to the floor on one side of the dog’s head, and slowly bringing it upwards and over to the dog’s other side. Your dog is probably going to follow the treat in your hand with his nose, which means he will rollover his whole body. Be sure to say ROLL OVER as your dog is rolling. Eventually, he will learn to perform the trick upon command. Do not let a lack of early success frustrate you. This takes repetition to nail down, but once you do, you will have the star dog on the block.
